Departed Graham Farm Airport OH82!
Departed Graham Farm Airport OH82! So many thanks to John and Deb Graham, Patty, Bushy, Leigh, Scott, and everyone else who came out and made our landing so welcoming (and tasty!)
Amy the Intern Goes to Youngstown Elser!
Two views of the LIOH Flight!
Amy the Intern here, and I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who have shown up either in person or in spirit to support the Lost In Oscar Hotel Flight. Most days I am stationed at “mission control” trying to keep an eye on our pilots, coordinating photographers, press, and airports while attempting to keep the website up-to-date.
Things don’t always go as planned — equipment fails, schedules change – a few times Mike and I were flying blind! But it’s Day 5 (can you believe it?) and we think we are starting to get the hang of it! We are very grateful for the both support and patience you have shown us.
Tuesday, I was granted a leave of absence from the computer in order to meet our pilots at the Youngstown Elser landing. It was a beautiful, sunny day and a great opportunity to meet some Piper Cub fans!
One such fan was Dave Gale. Dave is busy making plans to attend the EAA Piper Cub fly-in held in July at Oshkosh, WI. The trip is an anniversary gift from his wife — proof that he married a keeper! We wish him the best of luck winning his own J-3 in the EAA AirVenture Sweepstakes this September!
I also had the chance to talk with “Peppy” Laakso, a former Piper Cub pilot herself! I hope to do a feature length interview with Peppy, detailing her adventures in and out of the cockpit! Peppy brought along her German Shepherd named…you guessed it – Piper Cub! If only there was room in the 5MB for a mascot!
And last but not least, to the wonderful woman in the purple top who so kindly donated to the scholarship – I forgot to get your name (I blame the heat and my cough medicine!) – I think I speak for all cash-strapped students when I say THANK YOU!
Again, thank you to everyone who continues to support our adventure, and we hope to see you in Dayton!
